Why subscribe?
As the publishing industry collapses and as the social media ecosystems that once made it possible to make and sustain a living by writing become enshittified and overtaken by bad actors, the Late Review enables me to stay independent as a critic and writer. This blog is intended as a repository for criticism, whether architectural, literary, artistic, or otherwise. In starting it, I wanted to use it to re-examine work that may not be the most current, buzzy, or otherwise already covered by the media. It is an exercise in taking back attention from the economy of the now. But it is also derived from a love of art, a repository built on eight years of critical writing. Writing as a job is becoming increasingly unsustainable. If you’ve enjoyed my work in the past, please consider subscribing so that I may continue it.
